A day use park near the UCI campus. Mason Regional park has a nice lake with ducks. Barbecue fire rings and playground equipment make it a good place for a picnic stop. There are bicycle trails, fitness parcourse trails where you can jog and stop and exercise, a Frisbee golf course, horseshoe pits and volleyball courts. Hobbyists use the lake to sail their model sailboats. There is also a nature trail and interpretive programs.
OLD TOWN IRVINE

Directions: I-5, Exit Sand Canyon--on the western edge of the Santa Ana Freeway This long block of restored buildings includes a general store and a blacksmith's shop. They have been converted into a restaurant and hotel, but the tenants were not allowed to change the structure of the buildings, so you can still enjoy their appearance by driving by or dining here.

Built in 1877, this is the city's oldest stand structure. Its original function was as the cookhouse for the Irvine Ranch cattle camp. It now houses a one-room museum featuring exhibits on the history of Irvine Ranch. Antique farm equipment is on display, and there is a dress up area for children.

Large, undulating greens and hilly course give you plenty to work with here. The green fee is $41.00 on weekends which includes the cart. Two weeks advance reservations for a starting time is required.
